The compact CaC-202 analyzer determines calcium carbide purity through gasometric analysis. The process involves continuous monitoring of pressure increase caused by the acetylene gas released during the decomposition of calcium carbide in water. Calcium carbide is a grayish solid that reacts exothermically with water to produce calcium hydroxide and acetylene gas.
2 H₂O + CaC₂ (solid) → Ca(OH)₂ + C₂H₂ (gas)
The CaC-202 is a fully automatic and user-friendly device. The sample is placed directly into the reactor. Once loaded, the system seals automatically, adds a fixed amount of water, and continuously monitors the pressure increase caused by the generated acetylene until the final result is obtained. It then performs an automatic cleaning and drying cycle, leaving the unit ready for the next sample.
A user-friendly interface allows easy input of sample data, execution of the analysis, and real-time graphical display and storage of results in a database—greatly simplifying diagnostics and data management.
